(Mentor) – All the residents of a nursing home are safe after a Thursday morning sprinkler pipe leak that forced their evacuation.
The Mentor Fire Department says that about 3:30 a.m. Thursday, the sprinkler pipe leak occurred at Heartland of Mentor, 8200 Mentor Hills Drive. The city dispatched emergency crews, and residents were temporarily moved to unaffected parts of the building.
Approximately 15 fire departments assisted in transferring 60 residents to other HCR Manorcare facilities until repairs can be made.
The fire department says there were no injuries and all of the residents are being well cared for. Heartland of Mentor is contacting the families of the residents that have been transported. They are also contacting the families of the residents that were not transported off site.
