Good news for Cleveland motorists

(Cleveland) - Gasoline prices continue to decline around northeast Ohio. According to ClevelandGasPrices.com the average price for regular petrol is $3.42 a gallon, compared to $3.82 in Cleveland at this time last year.

However, some gas stations in Westlake are selling gas for as low at $3.02 a gallon, with the state average at $3.38 a gallon.

Gregg Laskoski of ClevelandGasPrices.com says Midwest refineries are operating at their highest level of capacity at 92 percent. Gulf coast refineries are at 91 percent, so gasoline supply remains strong.

Laskoski tells Newsradio WTAM 1100 that he expects prices to remain stable through the Labor Day holiday weekend, but warns we are in the middle of hurricane season and a major storm could change everything.

Laskoski adds that escalating turmoil in Egypt or anywhere in the Middle East could also cause a spike in prices.
