AUDIO: Airshow excitement missing this Labor Day

(Cleveland) - A longstanding Labor Day holiday tradition is absent from Burke Lakefront Airport this year.

The Cleveland National Air Show, presented by Discount Drug Mart, is not being held this weekend thanks to the federal sequester cuts made earlier this year in Washington D.C.

Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson says the D.C. disagreement between lawmakers is out of the city's control.

Jackson says the lack of this year's event, which features the Navy Blue Angels, means the loss of millions of dollars to the city, thanks to all the people who flock to the airport and downtown Cleveland to take in the event.

Jackson says the air show draws people not only from Cleveland and its' suburbs, but also folks from other cities.

Jackson tells Newsradio WTAM 1100's Carmen Angelo that once the funding issues are solved at the federal level, the air show will return.
