(Ashland) – While state-supported colleges are increasing tuition, one private college in northeast Ohio is drastically cutting tuition.
Ashland University says it's cutting undergraduate tuition for the 2014-15 school year by $10,000 in order to attract more students by making an education more affordable.
Next year's Ashland tuition will be only $18,908. That will be close to the cost of attending some state-supported colleges in Ohio.
Because of the lower tuition rate, the school will offer fewer opportunities for grants and scholarships. Ashland leaders say this will reflect the true cost of a college education.
