(Cleveland) - A charitable foundation has announced a $250,000 donation to the 2014 Gay Games, becoming the first presenting sponsor in the event's 31-year history.
As a result of the donation the event will now be known as the 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland Foundation.
The event also won its first national corporate sponsorship with a $100,000 donation from the accounting firm of Ernest & Young LLP.
The games in August 2014 are expected to attract 12,000 participants in 30 sports over eight days.
Since the Gay Games were founded in 1982, they have been held twice in San Francisco and in New York; Chicago; Vancouver, British Columbia; Amsterdam and Sydney.
