Indians, Tigers postponed due to inclement weather

(DETROIT) – On Tuesday afternoon there was no rain or snow at Comerica Park and the weather forecast did not call for any precipitation later in the evening, however the opening game between the Indians and Tigers was still postponed due to inclement weather.

The decision to postpone Tuesday night’s contest was announced just before 2:30 pm ET. No makeup date has been set yet.

Postponing a game prior to first pitch is the decision of the home team. Despite no precipitation, temperatures were forecasted to dip down to 27 degrees on Tuesday night.

The Indians and Tigers are scheduled to play on Wednesday night at 7:08 pm ET and will conclude their series on Thursday afternoon at 12:05 pm ET.

While the Tribe will simply bump their starting pitchers back, with Zach McAllister taking the mound Wednesday night and Danny Salazar starting on Thursday afternoon, the Tigers will counter with Anibal Sanchez on Wednesday, skip Drew Smyly in the rotation and start Justin Verlander in the final game of the shortened-series.

The Indians and Tigers are scheduled to play 19 times during the 2014 season.
